Danzer subsidiary considers sale of forest land in USA

US-based Danzer Forestland, which belongs to Danzer Holding, is examining the sale of forest land in the USA. Danzer offers various forest areas of up to 1,400 acres in size in the USA on the website of the forestry management company and via special Internet platforms. The forest areas currently offered are located in Pennsylvania, Indiana and the state of New York. According to a Danzer spokesman, the market is to be sounded out in this way.

Danzer Forestland manages around 20,000 hectares of forest in North America, of which 17,000 hectares are in Pennsylvania and New York and 3,000 hectares in Indiana. The purchase of forests was particularly promoted in 2005. At the time, Danzer had purchased a total of around 12,000 ha from McDonald Investment and Allegheny Partners. The forest areas acquired at that time are located in the US state of New York (St. Lawrence, Cattaraugus and Allegheny Counties) and in Pennsylvania (McKean, Potter, Warren and Tioga Counties). With regard to the areas in New York, it was pointed out at the time that only very limited uses would be possible due to overuse by the previous owner.
