Wood-based panel industry implementing CoC standard

31.10.2019 −

Over the past few months, wood-based panel companies have started implementing ISO 38200:2018 to standardise information-sharing along the product chain (chain of custody, CoC). Reviews currently under way in the wood-based panel industry and specific actions to implement ISO 38200 were preceded by a recommendation made by the European Panel Federation (EPF) in April. The standard has been available since October 2018. The goal is to show the chain of custody in a transparent manner. ISO 38200 sets out requirements for CoC management, documentation and information duties, audits, complaint management, non-conformity and outsourcing. The Brazilian and German standardisation organisations ABNT and DIN were among those advancing the development of uniform requirements for introducing and monitoring COC systems.
