Weak agricultural business burdens BayWa's EBIT

28.04.2017 −

What from the perspective of German BayWa, were mostly unfavourable market conditions for the Agricultural business division in the 2016 financial year could not be compensated for by comparatively positive trends in the Energy and Building divisions. Although BayWa showed growth in concern turnover of 3.2% to a total of €15.410bn, the EBIT was down year on year by 8.5% to €144.7m. Concern profit declined by 14.4% to €52.7m.

The result per share for BayWa shareholders was €0.90, representing 35.3% less year on year. The importance to BayWa of foreign markets increased again in 2016, and the share enjoyed by Germany in total third-party turnover decreased to 40.4%.
