29.10.2018 −

Chilean Celulosa Arauco y Constitutión has placed an order with Valmet and Andritz under two letters of award (LoA) for key components for updating and expanding the pulp mill at the Arauco facility in the Bio region. According to a release published on 3 October, Valmet is assuming the order will be able to be firmly booked before the end of the current quarter.

The components the company will be supplying include the pulp-drying section, the capacity of which Valmet quotes as 5,000 air dry tons (Adt) per day. Besides bale presses, the order also covers a recovery boiler (capacity: 6,300 tons of dry solids (tDS) per day) and the biomass boiler geared to a thermal output of 160 MWh. Valmet did not disclose any details about the exact value of the order though it did say that an outlay of 250-300m € is usually required for a project of this scale.

According to a release on 2 October, besides the wood yard, Andritz will also be supplying the fibre line, a white-liquor plant, and the evaporation system. The company says the order is worth approximately 300m €.
