Stora Enso throttles operation due to lack of water

15.10.2018 −

Stora Enso has partially shut down production at its pulp and fine paper mill in Nymölla, Sweden, since 8 October due to insufficient water supply. According to Stora Enso, this year's long dry spell in the Skane region has resulted in low water levels in the rivers and lakes there, including the river Skräbeån and Lake Ivö, from which the plant usually draws fresh water.

According to the company, it is not yet possible to estimate how long the shutdowns will last at the Nymölla plant and what effect they will have on production output.
