Pyrolysis oil production launched by Pyrocell

Pyrocell made the transition in production on the pyrolysis plant built in Kastet to regular operation on 2 September. Aside from the fine tuning still required, the plant is to be ramped up to full-load operation very soon.

Pyrocell is a joint venture between Setra Group and Preem Petroleum. The works is geared to an annual output of 25,000 t. The raw-material base is formed mainly by the sawdust produced by Setra’s neighbouring Kastet sawmill. The sawdust requirement is given as over 80,000 t per year. The pyrolysis oil obtained in Kastet is processed into renewable diesel and petrol at the Preem refinery in Lysekil.
