HIT enters finger-jointing sector by taking over SMB

H.I.T. Maschinenbau recently took over all the design documentation, rights, and workforce of SMB and integrated the company into the newly-founded H.I.T. Keilzinkentechnik on 19 March. Besides the three existing production areas of sawing, planing, and gluelam-timber technology, HIT has thus added finger-jointing to its range. H.I.T. Keilzinkentechnik will be located in Breitenthal, a few kilometres from the company’s headquarters. Franz Xaver Anton, Franz Josef Jeckle, and Werner Spieth have been registered as managing directors. Hans Lieble continues to work for the company as a consultant and Markus Graf remains operations and design manager. The range of SMB products will be retained as well.

The takeover was preceded by the initiation of insolvency proceedings against Hans Lingl (Lingl) at the beginning of October 2020, which also affected the Lingl subsidiary SMB. Alexander Kögel had joined the management of Lingl as a restructuring expert on 21 September, before insolvency was filed for. According to the last business report published in the federal gazette, H.I.T. generated sales revenue of around €17.5m in 2019, along with gross profit of €9.9m and a profit of €1.2m after tax.
