Enride develops autonomous e-truck for timber transport

Swedish start-up Einride presented an autonomous electric powered log truck at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 11. The T-log is a further development of the autonomous electric truck T-pod. Since the truck meets SEA Level 4 on the six-step scale for autonomous vehicles, no driver's cab is required. This allows a higher proportion of the permissible total weight to be used for the load. Compared to the T-pod presented last year, the T-log has more power and is specially designed for navigation on forest roads. Alternatively, the timber truck can be remote controlled from a central location together with other vehicles. The technical data is given by Einride as follows: Battery 300 kWh, payload 16 t and transport distance with one battery charge 120 miles. According to Einride, the first vehicles should be ready for test operation in 2020. According to the company, there are already inquiries from some globally active wood industry companies.
