EIB grants SCA loan of 150m €

The board of directors of European Investment Bank (EIB) recently granted Swedish SCA group a loan of 150m €. The loan is to be used for assisting the reforestation of 68,000 ha of forest, building 4250 km of forest roads, and measures for saving energy at the Östrand pulp mill in northern Sweden. The reforestation and construction of forest roads, work on which is scheduled to begin this year and reach completion by 2021, are mostly planned for the area around Östrand. The estimated total cost of the investment measures is 684m €.

The EIB has supported worldwide investment projects in the forest sector with loans totalling 4.5bn € in the last five years.
