Coronavirus forces delay to Domotex Asia/Chinafloor

03.02.2020 −

The organisers of the Domotex Asia/Chinafloor announced on 29 January that the flooring fair, originally slated to take place at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center (SNIEC) from 24 to 26 March, will be postponed. This decision was connected to the Coronavirus outbreak and resulting precautionary measures. Several Chinese provinces have now imposed major travel restrictions. On 29 January, a number of European and North American airlines also suspended flights to China until further notice. The new date for Domotex Asia/Chinafloor is to be decided as quickly as possible after the Chinese New Year festivities.

Against the background of the significant expansion of protective measures against the corona virus, the organizers of the Chinese furniture fair CIFF, which is divided into two parts, have also decided to postpone the date. CIFF Phase 1 was to take place from 18 to 21 March, CIFF Phase 2 was planned for 29 to 31 March. Parallel to CIFF Phase 2, Interzum Guangzhou would have taken place. The venue would have been the China Import and Export Fair Complex (Pazhou Complex) in Guangzhou/Province Guangdong. The new dates will be announced as soon as possible.

The CIFF organizers have pointed out in a notice published on 31January that, following a decision to this effect by the Chinese government and the Guangdong province administration, no major events may be held for the time being due to the outbreak of the virus. Koelnmesse, as the organizer of Interzum Guangzhou, has not yet made any public statements regarding the cancellation of the event.
