British Confor and UKFPA merge on 1 January

The Confederation of Forest Industries (Confor) and the UK Forest Products Association (UKFPA) will merge on 1 January. According to Confor-Chief Executive Stuart Goodall, the merger agreement will be signed shortly. The name Confederation of Forest Industries (Confor), based in Edinburgh, will remain as the name of the merged association; Athole McKillop as Confor Chairman and Goodall as Chief Executive will also retain their positions.

The merger was unanimously approved at the general meetings held by Confor on 20 September and UKFPA at the end of August. The board of the merged association will consist of seventeen members, thirteen from Confor and four from UKFPA. Within two years, however, the intention is that the board will be reduced in size.
