Bau to be replaced by a hybrid format in January 2021

12.10.2020 −

At meetings held with the advisory board and board of trustees for the Bau trade, the event’s organiser Messe München decided not to hold the fair as an in-person event from 11 to 16 January 2021 after all. An exhibitor survey previously conducted by the organiser had found that the majority of companies now think that participating in the event is unrealistic given the expected decline in the number of visitors. According to Messe München, the framework conditions have worsened significantly in recent weeks amidst a renewed increase in the number of coronavirus cases. As a result, the organiser had to back away from holding the Bau, which it had long felt was still possible. Postponing the fair to a later date was not an option. The next Bau will not happen until January 2023 as a result.

Instead of holding an in-person event, Messe München plans to offer a hybrid format from 13 to 15 January. A compact exhibition area in up to two halls at the Internationalen Congress Centre Munich (ICM) will be complemented by digital offerings, such as online sessions and virtual networking events. These digital options will also be a feature at the next regular event in January 2023.
