Arauco increased its sales in 2017

09.04.2018 −

Chilean Celulosa Arauco y Constitutión sold 7.4% more wood-based panels in the fourth quarter of 2017 than in the prior-year period with a total of 1.216m m³. However, sales were not quite as high as the figure of 1.261m m³ recorded between July and September.

Arauco said that the 3.6% decline compared with the previous three-month stretch was stronger competitive pressure on North American MDF and particleboard markets. Arauco also sold less MDF in Brazil in the fourth quarter. Chilean sales of imported OSB made by the joint venture Sonae Arauco had decreased as well. Arauco had posted unchanged raw board sales compared with the previous quarter in the rest of Latin America. On the other hand, sales of laminated board jumped in Chile and Peru in particular. Wood-based panel prices were stable.
