US sales of kitchen/bathroom cabinets declined
US manufacturers of kitchen and bathroom cabinets were confronted with significant declines in April. According to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) turnover generated by made-to-measure and semi-custom cabinets dropped by 30.4% and 25.4% respectively. Although the decline for standard products was lower, at 17.8% it was still in the double-digit range. Total turnover consequently fell by 22%, showing the effects of the corona-related shutdown imposed in March.
After total turnover rose by 6.4% in the first quarter, a decrease of 1% for the first four months ensues. For made-to-measure and semi-custom cabinets, decline rates amounted to 4.1% and 5.9% respectively. Turnover for standard products still increased by 3.2% in the accumulated period.
