Minor growth in US furniture industry’s orders in August

The volume of orders received by the US furniture manufacturers geared to the residential sector in August was 1% higher than in the same month of last year at 2.238bn $. According to the monthly economic report by Smith Leonard double-figure growth of 11% had been registered here in July. The backlog of orders improved by 6% in August to 1.941bn $. Sales revenue rose by 5% to 2.376bn $. Here, the rate of growth was half that of the previous month; growth had still amounted to 10% in July.

Cumulated over the first eight months, sales revenue increased 5% to 18.311bn $; receipts of orders rose a little more sharply by 6% to 18.099bn $.
