Insolvent Wellemöbel stopped operations on 01 April

11.04.2019 −

Business activity of insolvent Wellemöbel has had to be discontinued with effect as per 01 April. According to insolvency administrator Dr. Frank Kebekus, the investor process which was commenced in mid-December was not able to reach any successful conclusion as the two remaining interested parties ultimately withdrew at the end of March. Kebekus had originally contacted a double-figure number of potential investors in the search for an investor. Employees were informed of the current development on 28 March.

In addition to the general decline in demand, the financial difficulties experienced again by the furniture manufacturer were attributed to the loss of market shares to eastern European competitors. The production of furniture for nurseries/kids bedrooms, teens bedrooms, bedrooms as well as office furniture took place at locations in Alsfeld and Bad Lippspringe. The Detmold production location had been closed down in mid-2015 within the scope of restructuring proceedings in self-administration, which were concluded in the same year.
