Ikea sales revenue 7 % down in France in 2019/2020

Sales revenue generated by the national subsidiary of Ikea in France fell 7 % below the previous year’s figure in its business year 2019/2020 (31 Aug.) at €2.790bn. This reduction is mainly attributable to the ten-week closure of the 34 stationary French branches in spring caused by the corona crisis. The Ikea France website was also offline for four weeks during this period. Revenue generated from e-Commerce sales (excluding services) as able to be raised by 44 % to €414m, nonetheless. As such, the online share of total sales revenue was increased to 15.4 %. The share has meanwhile already quadrupled over the last three business years. In the course of the second wave of corona, all 33 furnishing stores, the city branch in Paris, and the planning studio in Nizza opened on 1 September had to be temporarily closed again. Online orders and use of the Click & Collect services remained functional, however. All stationary stores in France have been open again since 28 November.

A second branch in the centre of Paris will be added in spring 2021. The Ikea furnishing store in Nizza under construction at present is to be opened at the beginning of 2022.
