Howdens records 4.6% turnover rise

Total turnover of British Howden Joinery (Howdens) increased by 4.6% in the first 24 weeks of the 2017 financial year (30 December) vis à vis the comparative period of the preceding year to £553.0m. Of this figure, £539.5m was generated in Great Britain (+4.0%) and £13.5m from activities in continental Europe (+35.0%). On a like-for-like basis, turnover in Great Britain increased by 2.4%.

Since the beginning of the new financial year Howdens has opened 11 new kitchen studios in Great Britain. The number of stores on the British market has therefore increased to 653. A total of 30 new locations are also to be added this year. In addition to Great Britain, there are currently 24 further Howdens kitchen studios in continental Europe, with 20 in France, two in Belgium and one in both the Netherlands and Germany. In France turnover increased like-for-like and adjusted to account for currency fluctuations by 5.3% in the first half of the year.
