Howdens improves turnover by raising prices

09.05.2019 −

In the first four months British kitchen furniture manufacturer and dealer Howden Joinery Group (Howdens) achieved a turnover increase of 5.7% vis à vis the preceding year. According to a trading update published on 02 May, the increase calculated on a comparable basis amounted to 3.9%. The improvement in turnover, according to Howdens, is due to price increases introduced in January. Over the entire period of 2018 the company generated total turnover of £1.511bn (+7.7%), of this total £1.477bn was generated in Great Britain and £34.0m (+6.9%) on export markets on the European continent.

In January 2019 Howdens withdrew from Germany and the Netherlands which means its activities in continental Europe are focused on France and Belgium. In Great Britain there are currently 702 kitchen studios. Eight of these have been opened since the beginning of 2019. A total of 40 new locations are planned for this year, including five in Northern Ireland.
