Growth in online furniture trade continues

In the second quarter, gross turnover generated online in connection with furniture, lamps and decorative goods rose by 27.4% to €1.799bn. A similarly high increase rate had already been achieved in the first quarter, according to the quarterly consumer study entitled interactive trade in Germany and conducted by Beyondata. Turnover generated in the household goods and appliances product group rose by 21.3% to €1.624bn. For soft furnishings and home textiles, Beyondata recorded an increase of 31.5% to €381m. Overall, online turnover in the furnishing product cluster thus increased by one-quarter to €3.804bn.

Turnover generated in online trade concerning all product groups rose by 19.4% to €24,141bn in the second quarter. All types of sellers except multichannel providers recorded increase rates in the double-digit range. The most significant growth, at 22.5%, was recorded for online market places. Their market share amounts to 50.7%.
