Group of Swiss investors buys Conforama Suisse

17.08.2020 −

Steinhoff International Holdings has found a new owner for Conforama Suisse based in Ecublens, Switzerland, too. The deal came after the company agreed to sell the French furniture shop chain Conforama France to Mobilux, at the start of July 2020. Identical media reports indicate that the furniture merchant - which operates 22 branches in Switzerland, employs roughly 1,200 workers and has been under the leadership of managing director Patrice Dupasquier since the start of 2018 - will be sold to a group of Swiss investors. It is not yet clear who is behind this group. Initial conversations with potential investors were held in September 2019. These talks continued during the coronavirus crisis, which led to Swiss furniture retailers shutting down for around two months. According to Mr Dupasquier, Conforama Suisse managed to partly offset the resulting slump in revenues thanks to continued online business. Conforama Suisse generated group revenues of about CHF450m in the 2019 financial year – a year-on-year upturn of some 2%.
