Forte’s export sales have shifted

The consolidated sales revenue of Fabryki Mebli Forte increased by 8 % to PLN298.6m or €65.3m in the first quarter vis à vis the preceding year. Sales revenue has significantly fallen short, however, of the amounts of PLN347.0m and PLN382.2m reached in the third and fourth quarters.

In the domestic market Forte generated PLN55.8m; export sales have been given as PLN242.8m. The export share did not change much and amounted to 81.3 %. Poland accounted for 18.7 % of total sales. In the third and fourth quarters the company had generated PLN67.3m and PLN73.4m respectively in the domestic market; export sales had risen to PLN280.0m and PLN308.0m. Over the past quarters sales have shifted, however, between the individual markets. The share of the DACH region decreased by 7.8 percentage points to 42.0 % compared to the same period of the previous year. The company ascribes the decline to the shop closures in the German furniture trade over a longer period of time. In contrast, the markets in Western and Northern Europe have become much more important reaching a share of 25.0 % of total sales. Central Europe, Southern und Eastern Europe accounted for 13.4 %, non-European countries for 0.9 %. Particleboard sales to external customers amounted to PLN24.0m in the first quarter.
