Ashley Furniture opens new plant in Pottsville

At the end of February, Ashley Furniture Industries opened a new production location for upholstered furniture in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. A total sum of several million US dollars was invested in the 100,000 sqft plant, and around 50 new jobs were created. In the USA, Ashley already operates eleven production locations in Wisconsin, Mississippi, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. The new plant in Pottsville is to work in collaboration with the production and logistics facility in Leesport, around 25 miles away. Ashley also manufactures upholstered furniture in Leesport. The 1,721,000 sqft facility opened in 2004 and was expanded in 2017 to include a distribution centre.

Already in early August 2020, Ashley had announced that it would invest a total of approximately US$22m at the Verona and Saltillo production locations in Mississippi by mid-2021. In Verona, with US$13m Ashley is to construct a new production building and install additional equipment for producing furniture and bedding. In Saltillo, US$9m will be invested in the modernisation of mattress and bedding production. In October, the company also announced that a new logistics centre is to be built in Etna, Ohio by the end of 2021 at a cost of around US$70m.
