Ikea supplier GABI to build plant in Belarus

GABI-BEL LLC, part of the Polish upholstered furniture manufacturer Fabryka Mebli GABI, plans to build a new upholstered furniture factory in Grodno, Belarus. According to the Grodnoinvest website, the planned factory in the Grodnoinvest special economic zone will have an area of 20,000 m² and its own woodworking and pellet production facilities. The upholstered furniture produced there will be delivered to Ikea furniture stores in the EU and CIS countries. GABI-BEL intends to create 170 new jobs at the new location in Belarus.

The company was officially registered into the company register of the Grodnoinvest Special Economic Zone on 26 March. A total of more than 20 companies have already settled in the cluster, including the Kronospan Group, the box furniture manufacturer Mebel-Neman and the furniture manufacturer Szynaka Mebel Bel, which belongs to the Polish Szynaka Group.
