Ethan Allen: double-digit turnover rise in first half-year

In the second quarter of its 2021/2022 financial year, US furniture manufacturer and trader Ethan Allen recorded a 16.4% increase in total turnover to US$208.1m despite the ongoing tight supply situation. Both business divisions contributed to this increase. In the wholesale segment, turnover rose by 14.2% to US$115.9m, whilst in the retail segment, an even more significant increase of almost 25% vis à vis the preceding year to US$179.6m was recorded. The figures indicated for both divisions also include internal turnover, which means their sum is higher than the figure indicated as total turnover.

In the first quarter, total turnover had risen by almost one-fifth to US$182.3m. Accumulated over the first half of the year, an increase of 18.4% to US$390.4m ensues. In the retail segment, turnover generated in the six-month period rose by 27.3% vis à vis the previous year's figure to US$334.6m, and in the wholesale segment by 13.3% to US$225.3m.
Operating profit increased by around US$30m to US$63.7m and net profit by around US$20m to US$47.0m. Individual price increases have been implemented to counteract higher costs for upstream products and logistics. Ethan Allen currently operates six factories in the USA and two in Mexico as well as a production location in Honduras.
