Belarusian furniture exports increased by 33%

In the third quarter, Belarusian furniture exports increased by one-third vis à vis the compara-tive period of the preceding year to US$238.8m. In this context, deliveries to the EU excee-ded the previous year’s level by 22%, rising to US$103.8m. For the first half-year, Belstat had reported even stronger growth of 64% concerning exports to the EU, partly due to a base effect. Furniture exports to the two most important EU markets, Germany (+24% to US$31.3m) and Poland (+23% to US$34.6m), each rose by around one-fourth. Declines were recorded concerning deliveries to Lithuania (-18% to US$7.2m). The value of furniture ex-ported to CIS states amounted to US$121.5m. This corresponds to an increase of 40%. Of the total figure, furniture at a value US$96.4m was delivered to Russia - an increase of 28%.

Accumulated over the first nine months, the value of exports rose by 48% to a total of US$661.0m. The most significant increase was recorded in the case of Belarusian exports of seating furniture (+65% to US$186.8m). Deliveries of other furniture, at a value of US$447.2m, increased by 41% vis à vis the previous year. Exports of mattresses rose by 54% to US$27.0m.
