Arauco Wood Products’ EBITDA exceeds US$1bn

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the wood products business division of Chilean Celulosa Arauco y Constitución sold a total volume of 1.506m m³ composite panels (particleboard, MDF/HDF) in North and South America. This represents a 2.4% decrease vis à vis the preceding year's figure of 1.543m m³; compared to the previous quarter, the decline (-4.8%) was twice as high. According to the company, the declines are largely due to logistical problems. In the other two subdivisions, deliveries also increased compared to the previous year. Taking into account the significant increase in average prices in all three subdivisions, division turnover rose by around one-third vis à vis the preceding year to US$3.549bn. The plants in Chile (+35.4% to US$1.539bn) and the foreign companies (+35.2% to US$2.010bn) contributed equally to turnover growth.

The second business division pulp, which since the beginning of the year has also included Arauco's forestry activities, additionally achieved significant improvements in turnover and results in 2021. Turnover of the business division increased by 32.8% vis à vis the preceding year to US$2.800bn.
