Mohawk Flooring Rest of the World back in the black

13.11.2020 −

“Flooring Rest of the World” was the only one of the three divisions of Mohawk Industries to achieve an increase in sales revenue again in the third quarter. At US$681.3m, last year’s figure was surpassed by 13 %, or 10 % when exchange-rate fluctuations are left aside. The operating result was improved by 56 % to US$129.1m by growth in sales volumes, increased productivity, and lower raw-material costs, giving rise to an operating margin of 19 %.

The company attributes the renewed, considerably better development than in the other two “Flooring North America” and “Global Ceramic” divisions to the sales emphasis in the markets in central and northern Europe that are less affected by the corona crisis as well as to the significant increases in sales volume in the laminate-flooring and LVT business. The volume of laminate-flooring sales in Europe has been restricted by bottlenecks in capacity, which is why the Unilin “Flooring” division has meanwhile begun deliveries from the Russian works. Growth in LVT sales was even better. International Vinyl Company (IVC Group), which, like Unilin Flooring, belongs to Mohawk’s Flooring RoW division, will start delivering rigid LVT before the end of the fourth quarter.
