I4F and Beauflor reach out-of-court settlement

28.01.2019 −

The intellectual property company Innovations4Flooring (I4F), the US flooring dealer Carpet Express and the LVT supplier Beauflor US, which belongs to the Beaulieu International Group (BIG), have reached an out-of-court settlement in the patent infringement proceedings that have been ongoing since mid-November. According to a statement published on 25 January by I4F, Beauflor will sign a non-assertion agreement for the US 10,053,868 patent used by I4F in the lawsuit. The company will also label all packaging of the "Boardwalk" product line marketed in the United States with a reference to the I4F patent.

I4F had argued in the patent infringement suit filed in the Northern District of Georgia District Court in mid-November that the Boardwalk rigid core product line produced by Beauflor and marketed through Carpet Express infringes I4F's US 10,053,868 patent. Beauflor's production of the Boardwalk flooring is based on a license from Välinge Innovation, Sweden, which allows the company to use the 5Gi laying system.
