FEP: Parquet consumption up by 1.7% in 2016

10.07.2017 −

In 2016, a total of 77.015m m² of parquet flooring were consumed in the 16 members countries of the European Federation of the Parquet Industry (FEP), representing year-on-year growth of 1.7%. This emerges from the latest statistics presented by the FEP on 16 June at this year’s annual general meeting of the federation in Budapest (Hungary). Growth was therefore slightly less than the roughly 2% originally forecast by the FEP in mid-January. With this latest increase, parquet consumption within FEP countries has risen for the second successive year.

Parquet consumption in 2016 decreased in only three of the 16 member countries; these were Switzerland (-2.2%), the Netherlands (-4.2%) and the group Finland/Norway/Denmark (-1.2%). For Rumania, FEP statistics show an unchanged volume. All other countries showed low- to mid-single-figure-percentage growth rates. The highest rates of growth were achieved in France (+4.1%), Sweden (+4.0%) and Belgium (+4.0), followed by the Czech Republic (+3.6%), Germany (+2.5%), Spain (+2.2%), Austria (+2.0%), Poland (+1.8%), Hungary (1.0%) and Italy (+0.8%).
