FEB members achieve slight rise in DACH turnover

In 2020, the companies consolidated in the association of manufacturers of resilient flooring (FEB) sold a total of 58.942m m² floor coverings in the DACH region. This represents a slight rise of 1% compared to the previous year. The increase was exclusively due to the German market, where the sales volume rose by 2.1% to 54.399m m². After a strong first quarter, busi-ness in Germany slackened off in the second quarter due to corona. From the third quarter on-wards, however, business improved again. In Austria and Switzerland the declines recorded in the first half year could not be fully offset despite the revival in the third and fourth quarters. According to the FEB, the sales volume within Austria dropped by 10.6% to 2.745m m². For Switzerland, an 11.7% decrease to 1.799m m² was recorded.

Manufacturers especially benefited from the good development in demand concerning design flooring/luxury vinyl tiles. Total sales in this product segment in the DACH region rose by 5.8% to 28.774m m². For CV flooring a slight increase to 14.274m m² was recorded. All other product segments developed along negative lines. The area "linoleum, rubber" declined by 2.7% to 8.882m m². The sales volume of homogeneous PVC flooring fell by 12.6% to 4.426m m² and in the case of heterogeneous PVC flooring by 7.4% to 2.389m m². Sales of security flooring were down to 198,000m².
