Dormakaba wants to withdraw from joint venture in India

02.05.2018 −

Swiss Dormakaba wants to withdraw from the Indian joint venture Dorset Kaba Security Systems. According to a company release published on 3 April, a corresponding dissolution of the joint venture has been agreed with the Indian partner. Dormakaba holds 74 % of the shares in the company.

The joint venture had been founded in 2007 by Kaba Holding to facilitate the company’s entry into the Indian market. The Indian partner brought the production company Dorset Industries into the joint venture for this purpose. Dorset Industries dealt mainly with local business with door technology.

Following the merger completed between Kaba and Dorma in September 2015 to form Dormakaba, this local business with door hardware is no longer a key component for the company’s future development in India. The joint venture’s other activities, which mostly covered hotel access systems and physical access systems, are being integrated into the subsidiary Dorma India.
