LG Hausys trading under name of LX Hausys since July

LG Hausys, active in fields such as building products and composite materials, has been trading under the name of LX Hausys Ltd. since 1 July. The company remains based in Seoul. The remaining was decided on at the extraordinary meeting of shareholders on 25 June. The name change is connected with the founding of the new LX Holding in May into which five individual companies belonging to the South Korean conglomerate LG were merged. Besides LG Hausys, the other companies concerned are the trading company LG International, which trades as LX International in future, the chemicals company LG MMA (LX MMA), the logistics services provider Pantos Logistics (LX Pantos), and the manufacturer of semiconductor products Silicon Works (LX Semicon). The decision to hive off the five into a new holding company was taken by LG last November. CEO of LX Holding is Koo Bon-joon, a brother of the LG board chairman Koo Bon-moo, who died in 2018.

The management and existing contacts are being retained. The Europe business will continue to be coordinated from Frankfurt; the branch will be trading under the name of LX Hausys Europe in future. In the “Building & Interior” product segment, the company offers composite-material boards of the “Hi-Macs” brand and the engineered-stone brand “Viatera” as well as PVC windows, vinyl flooring, and wall coverings. The “Industrial Film” segment covers coatings, partly for wood products, too. The “Automotive” segment covers materials for the car industry. LG Hausys had emerged from the spin-off of the “Industrial Materials” division of the LG subsidiary LG Chem Ltd. in April 2009.
