Internorm shows decline in turnover

In the 2014 financial year, the Austrian window manufacturer Internorm suffered a year-on-year fall in turnover for the first time since 1997. According to provisional figures, group turnover, at roughly €304m, was down year on year by 5%; in 2012, turnover of roughly €315m had been generated. The export quota in 2014, at 55%, was approximately at the level of the previous year. Growth was achieved only in the sales regions Great Britain/Ireland (+36.7%), CEE (+5.1%) and France (+3.4%); all other relevant markets showed a declining trend. The biggest losses were incurred in Italy and on the Austrian domestic market, followed by the Swiss market. The Austrian market had already shown a decrease of roughly 3% in 2013, while export had shown growth. In Italy, the company achieved growth of 15%, and turnover in Germany rose by 10%. Internorm co-owner Christian Klinger attributed the decline in turnover in 2014 primarily to the deterioration in the general business situation on most European window markets which was evident for several months and to the fact that the building industry showed a downward trend in numerous countries.
