German sawmills aim to raise prices by €10-15/m³
Southern and western German softwood lumber producers are aiming to raise prices for the bulk of their assortments by €10-15/m³ as from mid-April after having been unable to push through the increases that had actually been scheduled for March. Many sawmills consider these price increases to be viable at least on the domestic market now that demand from the timber trade and value-adders has risen slightly during the course of April. Most urgent for many sawmills are mark-ups for lumber for pallet and packaging production. Prices for these assortments are currently still at the level reached after the cuts at the turn of the year and the early weeks of 2012 that sawmills had described as inadequate.
