Biesse: Order intake falls short of expectations
Biesse suffered an 18% drop in order intake during the first half of 2012 compared with the same stretch one year earlier. However, the group emphasised that order intake from commercial projects had been exceptionally strong in the first six months of 2011. For instance, the furniture group Howden Joinery had awarded Biesse orders with a total value of €12m at that time. Biesse reported a 5% increase in orders compared with the first half of 2010. The order backlog stood at around €90m on 30 June 2010, a decrease of 1.9% compared with the end of 2011. According to a presentation given by Banca IMI on 5 June, Biesse had originally anticipated an order backlog of roughly €100m at the end of the first half and projected a 6% rise in orders for the first six months.
