Martinsons CLT production capacity rises to 22,000 m³

27.02.2017 −

Swedish Martinsons Group has now completed expansion of CLT (cross-laminated elements) production. According to a notice published by the company on 30 January, the new line has now been commissioned and is currently being started up. Commissioning had originally been announced for September but was then delayed, so that test operation of the line was not possible until the end of 2016.

Martinsons had announced in November 2015 that it intended to invest a total of SKR80m in the expansion of CLT production. Building work had then commenced in April 2016. According to Martinsons, the plant’s annual CLT production capacity will have risen from its previous level of 5,000 m³ to 22,000 m³; until now, Martinsons had indicated capacity growth to 15,000 m³/year.

Apart from increasing capacity, the new line also expands the maximal producible width of CLT elements from 1.2 m to 3 m. This means that elements in storey height and up to a length of 12 m can be produced. The investment sum for the building of the new CLT line totalled roughly SKR80m.
