Lunawood expands thermowood plant in Kaskinen

Finnish Lunawood has modernised its Kaskinen plant at the end of 2016. At a cost of roughly €0.6m, the packaging line for thermowood has been automated. The consequent increase in capacity for the packaging sector, which has until now presented a bottleneck in production, is quoted by Lunawood at 20%. The new lines have been installed in calendar week 51.

The plant had only been taken over by Lunawood from the Finnish Metsä Group in June, when the Metsä Wood division, which covers wood products, had sold thermowood business to Lunawood. The Kaskinen site boasts annual production capacity for thermowood of 24,000 m³. As a result of Lunawood’s takeover of Kaskinen, the company’s total production capacity has been increased to 105,000 m³/year.
