Gratenau is Kebony’s exclusive distributor in Germany
Gratenau Holz became the exclusive distributor in Germany for the Norwegian wood modification firm Kebony. Gratenau said that this agreement marked a long-term partnership and would initially run for three years. Gratenau offers decking and substructures as well as cladding made out of Kebony wood. Its products will be sold to wood merchants with warehouses. Gratenau aims to sell around 1,000 to 1,500 m³ of Kebony products each year from 2012 onwards. The main raw material used in Kebony-wood production is Scots pine and southern yellow pine (SYP) free of knots from certified forests. Small amounts of maple are modified for the premium market. Kebony operates a plant with an annual capacity of about 25,000m³ in the Norwegian town of Skien. The company significantly expanded its international distribution network in 2010 by entering into sales partnerships in the UK, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Italy. The partnership with Gratenau means that Kebony products will now be sold in Germany for the first time. Kebony also has its own branches in Denmark, Sweden and the US.
