Slower growth in German OSB imports and exports

The growth in Germany’s foreign trade in OSB slowed a little in the second quarter after a strong surge in the first three months of 2016. Preliminary figures from the German Federal Statistical Office show that OSB exports had leapt 20% to 136,251 m³ in the first three months, before improving just 2% in the next three months to 129,794 m³. OSB imports jumped as much as 38% to 182,096 m³ in the first quarter and improved 17% to 180,304 m³ between April and June. Imports and exports both declined compared with the first quarter.

German OSB exports were still 10% higher than last year at 266,045 m³ during the first six months combined. This upswing was driven by all major sales markets. Imports leapt 27% to 362,400 m³.
