Surteco ceases edgebanding production in China

Surteco stopped making plastic edgebanding at a plant in Taicang, China run by its subsidiary Surteco Decorative Material at the end of 2011. This facility is still part of its Paper division. The firm linked this decision to sustained cost and competitive disadvantages compared with Chinese edgebanding producers. The divestment was fully booked in the company’s balance sheet for 2011. Closure costs were offset by the proceeds from the sale of the land.
