UPM orders progressive kiln for Korkeakoski sawmill
Finnish UPM-Kymmene recently placed an order with Swedish Valutec Group for an OTC-type progressive kiln for its Korkeakoski sawmill. The start-up is scheduled for September. The order also covers the delivery of pressure frames and the Valmatics control system developed by Valutec as well as a system for controlling the energy consumption. Softwood lumber can be dried to a moisture content of 18% in the kiln geared to an annual capacity of 38,000 m³.
When the new kiln is put into service, the Korkeakoski facility will have a total of 19 kilns. The sawmill with an annual production capacity of 370,000 m³ of softwood lumber will manufacturer mostly joinery-grade pine lumber.
