Russian sawmill industry stepping up expansion

Investment activity in the Russian sawmill industry has increased significantly since last year, after prior years had mainly seen isolated new and expansion investments. Production capacity in the Russian sawmill industry is expected to rise by around 3.5 million m³ by 2016, according to information available to date. Capacity is to increase through the construction of new plants as well as through expansion of existing sawmills. Moreover, several Russian sawmills are modernising existing sawing lines.
