Russian JSC Red October invests in new sawmill

The Russian lumber producer JSC Red October has ordered a new sawmill facility with annual sawing capacity of 140,000 m³ of softwood roundwood in two-shift operation from Söderhamn Eriksson. Following conclusion of the investment, lumber production will double from its current level of 60,000 m³ to 120,000 m³ per year. Söderhamn Eriksson will act as the general contractor for the investment project, which involves a total investment volume of SKR65m. Delivery of the plant is scheduled for the end of 2012 and commissioning is planned for the spring of 2013. Söderhamn Eriksson will supply a debarking line and a sawing line. The debarking line is a Cambio 680 for roundwood diameters of up to 68 mm and feed speeds of from 65 to 70 running metres/min. The SuperSaver sawing line includes an AKE reducer bandsaw for angled sawing and thin kerfs, a rotary conveyor and an automatic edger.
