Minor reduction in softwood log prices brings scarcely any relief for sawmilling industry

11.07.2012 −

The central European sawmilling industry sees scarcely any easing in the critical earnings position it has been facing for months now. For the third quarter awmilling companies can currently expect price cuts to the tune of roughtly 4% at the most on prices that applied in the second quarter. In parts of southern Germany, Austria, and Switzerland the currently applicable log prices have even been rolled over into the third quarter so there can be no mention of any easing in procurement costs here.
