The Finnish Forest Industries Federation has officially cancelled its membership of the European Organisation of the Sawmill Industry (EOS) with effect from the end of 2014. The spokeswoman for the FFIF, Anne Pirilä, justified the step with the changed emphases in the work of the Finnish federation. Pirilä stated that the FFIF will nevertheless remain as a member of the European Confederation of Woodworking Industries (CEI-Bois). However, from today’s perspective, EOS president Måns Johansson still assumes that the Finnish sawmill industry will continue to be represented in the EOS; talks during the course of the next few weeks will show what form that will take.
