Canfor invests Can$80m in sawmills

Canfor is investing Can$80m in its sawmill activities in British Columbia this year. Of this sum, approximately Can$40m are to be invested in the Mackenzie location. As the company announced on 18 January, it intends to adapt and modernise the sawing, planing and drying capacities by November of this year. The production capacity in Mackenzie, working on a single shift basis, amounts to 80m bd ft per annum. As early as December, Canfor announced that it invest in the Elko sawmill, which is also located in British Columbia. During the course of the current year the company intends here to modernise the sawmill equipment, expand drying capacities and construct new planing facilities. For this purpose the group is also to invest Can$40m.
