German woodworking machinery turnover up 33%

The woodworking machinery sector within the German Association of Machines and Plant Builders (VDMA), reports year-on-year growth in stationary woodworking machinery turnover by 33% to €2.95bn. Turnover within Germany increased by 19%, while export sales soared 37%. Classified by sub-sector, growth in turnover was particularly conspicuous in wood-based panel and sawmills plants last year. Producers of machinery for the furniture and building products sectors as well as for craftsmen booked increases by high single-figure percentages on the already high year-ago results.
