Disproportionate growth of +7.9% recorded in sales in Ikea Deutschland’s furniture segment

10.11.2011 −

Ikea Deutschland raised its sales revenue again by 5% to €3.65bn in the last business year 2010/2011 (31 August). Ikea had grown by 4.2% in Germany in the previous year. According to Peter Betzel, general manager of Ikea Deutschland since 1 September 2011, the area-adjusted growth in sales revenue in the last business year was only insignificantly lower than the unadjusted increase because the only new opening in Berlin-Lichtenfeld did not take place until December 2010. The new outlet also drew customers away from the other Berlin stores. Betzel says price increases did not contribute to the growth in sales revenue. Ikea claims to have reduced prices in the past fiscal year, too.
