Parquet production increases in first quarter

01.05.2012 −

Total production in the first quarter of 2012 among wood-flooring-manufacturing members of the Verband der Deutschen Parkettindustrie (VDP – German Parquet Industry Association) at 2.440m m², showed year-on-year growth of 4.9%. VDP chairman Michael Schmid reports that the decline seen in the fourth quarter of 2011 was thereby compensated for. At that time, production by VDP members had been down year on year by 5.1% to 2.317m m², so that in spite of the improved trend in the previous quarters the year as a whole showed a slight minus of 1% to 9.219m m². The first quarter of 2011 saw total production decline year on year by 3.1%, while the second quarter brought growth of 5.6% and the third quarter showed a minimal decline again of 0.9%.
